Assistant Sales/Yard Person Required

We have an exciting opportunity for the role of Assistant Sales/Yard Person, based within our Grimsby Depot, where you will become an integral part of the team.

With over 200 years’ experience, Bennetts Timber is a long-established independent merchant, offering general timber and building supplies to both the trade and the general public throughout Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, the East Midlands and further afield.

The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic and preferably have some experience in sales within a builder’s merchant or similar retail outlet, have good computer skills and a full UK driving licence is preferable.

This is a multi-skilled position and product knowledge of timber and building materials is preferable. Experience in telephone selling and customer service is also needed.

Responsibilities & Duties

• Telephone sales to tradespeople and public.
• Dealing with customer email enquiries
• Counter Sales
• Stock control
• Cash Handling
• Picking customer orders
• Serving customers in warehouse/yard
• Putting away stock from deliveries
• Use of workshop equipment including router, chop saw and panel saw
• Keeping all areas clean, tidy and free from hazards
• Driving company vehicles for deliveries when required
• Working as part of a team

Experience

• Knowledge of timber and building products an advantage
• Customer service skills
• Good phone manner
• Good computer skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Good organisational skills

Hours of work:

8.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday with a 30-minute break.

1 in 2 Saturday’s 8.00 am to 12.00pm.

Salary:

£13.00 per hour.
